Pocket Gospel Privacy Policy.
Last updated: 2026-04-05
Pocket Gospel is an offline-first Bible app for iPhone. This Privacy Policy explains what the app stores, what it may access, and when network requests may occur.
Summary
- Pocket Gospel is designed to work privately on your iPhone after local setup.
- Core content such as chats, notes, saved passages, and selected settings are stored locally on your device.
- The app does not require an account to use the core experience.
- The app does not require cloud sync for the core experience.
Data Stored on Your Device
Pocket Gospel may store the following data locally on your iPhone:
- Chat history
- Saved passages / bookmarks
- Notes
- Your selected Bible voice and playback settings
- Your local model selection and related setup state
- Optional reminder preferences
- App content snapshots used by widgets and app extensions
This data is stored locally so the app can provide offline Bible chat, reading, notes, saved passages, widgets, shortcuts, and share-extension features.
Data Shared With Other App Components
Pocket Gospel uses an Apple App Group container so the main app, widgets, and the share extension can access a small shared set of local data. This is used for:
- Widget snapshots such as Today’s study and Verse of the day
- Shared actions sent from the Share extension into the main app
- Shared access to library/session files where needed
This shared storage remains on your device.
Network Requests
Pocket Gospel is designed so that its core offline experience can work without internet after setup. However, the app may make HTTPS network requests in these cases:
- To download a local language model chosen by the user
- To refresh hosted content manifests published by the app publisher
- To open Apple system Settings or Apple services initiated by the user
- To use optional external engines only if the app publisher enables them in a build or deployment configuration
At launch, the production app is intended to use on-device local models for the main chat experience. If a publisher later enables optional external providers, this Privacy Policy should be updated to reflect that configuration.
Notifications
If you enable daily study reminders or evening reflection reminders, Pocket Gospel schedules local notifications on your device using Apple’s notification system.
Pocket Gospel does not need your contact list, photo library, microphone, or location for its core experience.
Speech and System Voices
If you use Bible read-aloud features, the app uses Apple system speech APIs and the voices installed on your device.
Analytics and Advertising
Pocket Gospel is not designed around advertising.
As of this policy date, the app does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the main product experience. If that changes, this Privacy Policy must be updated before release.
Your Choices
Inside the app, you can:
- Delete chats, bookmarks, and notes using the Erase local data flow
- Change reminder settings
- Change or remove downloaded local models
- Decline optional notifications
Children
Pocket Gospel is a Bible and devotional product intended for general audiences. Final App Store age-rating responses should be completed in App Store Connect based on the shipping content and features.
